We take time to understand our clients’ needs and concerns and take pride in providing well-engineered solutions that deliver safety, value, reliability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness into their operations, in what is a very challenging, highly regulated working environment. Our design staff have a wide knowledge of the airport sector and the drivers that determine the scheme approval process for airport projects
Whatever the commercial demands of any project, safety remains our number one priority and we are recognised within the industry for our exemplary health and safety record. We hold a signatory status at various airports and have extensive experience of airport operations with dedicated personnel. IKM are also a FIRAS accredited organisation helping to make airports fire safe and maintaining operational fire integrity to works undertaken by ourselves or others.
With our extensive understanding of Airport based operations allied to a vastly experienced management team, we can deliver technical solutions throughout the airport industry, including the installation of customer information systems, public address/voice alarm systems and security and driver only operation CCTV. We provide a comprehensive, integrated service that takes projects from feasibility through design and installation to commissioning, end-user training and ongoing maintenance.
Each recorded item of work must be undertaken and signed off by an approved installer and shall be photographed and labelled. Each recorded item will be registered and uploaded upon the FIRAS database and as such provides a comprehensive catalogue of warranted installations.
All FIRAS Registered Companies are subject to ongoing inspection of their installation work along with an annual audit of office systems by FIRAS Inspectors to ensure that compliance with FIRAS Scheme Requirements is maintained.
A number of IKM’s management and engineering staff hold NVQ Level 2 and are trained in the selection and application of passive fire protection systems. By using a FIRAS registered contractor works will be carried out by knowledgeable companies to appropriate standards, offering clients peace of mind.
Preparatory work involves feasibility programming and ground condition surveys, GPS plotting, AutoCAD drawing as well as comprehensive Method Statements and Risk Assessments. To ensure a hassle-free client experience we undertake the gathering of all permits, consent and way-leave approvals as well as obtaining all necessary statutory consents and local authority approval. As part of our undertaking IKM staff project manage each implementation throughout its life-cycle to ensure that the finished product is achieved with the minimum of intrusive delays or downtime.
IKM have been Cardiff University’s incumbent structured cabling supplier for well over 10 years now. We are lucky to have them working in partnership with us, and time and again have benefitted from their expertise and professionalism. From the rapid response to ad-hoc minor repairs, to the design and implementation of infrastructure deployments in large scale buildings and backbone installations, IKM have all aspects covered. In recent years IKM have assisted us with the design and deployment of Wireless networking and VoIP telephony system rollouts. Their input and assistance has been integral to our service delivery to over 30,000 students and 6,000 staff.
