Fibre To The Home (FTTH)

Fibre To The Home (FTTH)

Since 2020, IKM has been delivering Fibre to the Home (FTTH) solutions for new build developments across England and South Wales. We provide dedicated teams of highly trained and fully equipped engineers to implement site-specific designs. Our teams specialise in installing FTTH solutions through Pit & Duct systems, servicing both Single Dwelling Units (SDU) and Multi-Dwelling Units (MDU).

IKM is proud to partner with both a leading broadband provider and a major renewable energy company. Together, we are deploying network systems for broadband, EV charging, and PV inverters in both residential and commercial environments.

  • Internal and external fibre and copper installations
  • Splicing and cable termination
  • Installation of cabinets, nodes, routers, ONTs, and jointing/linking
  • Clear labelling systems
  • Detailed, photographic, reporting procedures
  • Testing and commissioning
  • Comprehensive warranty
  • Fault identification & resolution

Survey

We conduct detailed fibre surveys, including onsite evaluations to design optimal cabling routes whilst minimising disruption. Our team assesses network speed and capacity requirements to ensure your infrastructure meets your needs. For internal installations, we determine the most efficient installation method. For underground routing, we verify the readiness of existing ducting or plan alternative solutions.

Cable Termination

Fibre termination prepares cables for integration with network equipment, marking the final stage of fibre installation process. We specialise in terminations with pre-terminated pigtails, available in both male and female connectors, ensuring reliable and consistent performance. Pre-terminated solutions reduce the risk of light loss compared to traditional methods.

Cable Containment Solutions

We provide containment systems, including trunking, nodes, conduits, cable trays, and cabinets. Our systems ensure a neat, organised, and professional installation tailored to your needs.

Testing & Commissioning

We provide a range of fibre testing options tailored to your requirements:

  • OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer): Maps fibre cables, detects splice and connector performance, and identifies losses.
  • iOLM (Intelligent Optical Link Mapper): Enhances OTDR with automated diagnostics, providing simplified and accurate performance insights.
  • Power Meter Testing – Measures wavelengths from 1310 to 1577nm for optimal operation.
  • Visual Light Testing: Quickly locates breaks or faults within the fibre.
  • Post-installation, we perform comprehensive testing and provide detailed reports for your records.

Blown Fibre Installation

Our team has extensive experience in blown fibre installations, using compressed air to push fibre cables through ducts efficiently. This method is ideal for long distance installations, providing both speed and reliability.

Fault Finding & Repairs

We provide fault identification & end-to-end fibre repair services for all cable types. Our skilled IKM engineers accurately identify the damage and carry out repairs to meet industry performance standards. Following the repairs, we conduct thorough testing to ensure full functionality and reliability.

The IKM team is friendly, helpful, and reliable, always going above and beyond to meet our needs. Their exceptional support and maintenance services have been invaluable to our business. We highly recommend them to any company seeking dependable and professional assistance.

From the rapid response to ad-hoc minor repairs, to the design and implementation of infrastructure deployments in large scale buildings and backbone installations, IKM have all aspects covered. In recent years IKM have assisted us with the design and deployment of Wireless networking and VoIP telephony system rollouts. Their input and assistance has been integral to our service delivery to over 30,000 students and 6,000 staff.

Andy Pilcher, Cardiff University

We have always found IKM to be highly professional and eager to assist with all aspects of project delivery. Their project management, planning, and engineering expertise have been invaluable. IKM consistently demonstrates flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and a can-do attitude, making them a trusted partner in our projects.

Neal Bates, Head of Delivery, Capita

Wingate have engaged IKM on numerous data and comms contracts at our secure MOD project, where John Leach and his team have excelled in understanding the security complexities and in their standard of work.

The works were carried out safely, to programme and budget and without incident, under demanding circumstances. The installation was tested and signed off and approved by the Clients representatives, who told me personally the standard of work was to the highest standard they have seen for some time.

I would have no hesitation in recommending IKM to anyone.
