In the build-up to the hugely successful 2012 Olympic Games in London, massive regeneration schemes were undertaken within Stratford to provide not only facilities for the immediate games.
Cardiff University recognised that in order to offer their student’s access to high speed internet for both their research and email communication, they would have to provide an internet connection to each of the student rooms.
"As a result, we have engaged with IKM for a considerable number of other projects on our campus".
IKM commenced the infrastructure deployment of the satellite building in 2004, this involved the installation of backbone copper and fibre, interconnecting 14 separate Comms Room each with diverse routing as well as 12 Aircraft stands.
With the increasing demand for new homes in the UK, and with available land being at a premium, the demand to build High rise Multi Dwelling Units (MDU) in and around the capital has amplified.
IKM have been Cardiff University’s incumbent structured cabling supplier for well over 10 years now. We are lucky to have them working in partnership with us, and time and again have benefitted from their expertise and professionalism. From the rapid response to ad-hoc minor repairs, to the design and implementation of infrastructure deployments in large scale buildings and backbone installations, IKM have all aspects covered. In recent years IKM have assisted us with the design and deployment of Wireless networking and VoIP telephony system rollouts. Their input and assistance has been integral to our service delivery to over 30,000 students and 6,000 staff.
